School Streets create pedestrian and cycle zones in streets around schools during drop-off and pick-up times. 

The scheme aims to:

  • reduce road danger at the school gates
  • tackle congestion
  • improve air quality
  • increase active travel to school

This phase will include School Streets in five schools:

Events

  • Traffic safety day

    From 29 Feb 2024 at 10:00 to 29 Feb 2024 at 14:00

    This is organised by Lambeth and the local police. Officers conduct demonstrations on safe driving practices, especially in school zones. Families are encouraged to participate in interactive activities, such as a mini traffic school for kids and simulations to raise awareness about pedestrian safety.

  • Educational Workshops for Parents

    The schools involved in this proposal have organsied workshops for parents to educate them about the benefits of school streets and alternative transportation options. Experts share tips on walking, biking, and carpooling. Parents have the opportunity to ask questions and address concerns, fostering a sense of community engagement.
